Painting Robot Protective Covers for Great Wall Motors | Tehu
Custom Robot Protective Suit for Great Wall Motors Paint Shop
Tehu developed tailor-made robot protective clothing for the Great Wall Motors paint shop. Made from non-scratch and non-shedding materials with good paint absorption performance, the protective suit helps protect spraying robots and maintain stable paint production quality.
We have supplied custom robot protective suits to automobile manufacturers including BYD, Chery and Great Wall Motors. For this project, Tehu developed a four-section anti-static spraying robot protective suit consisting of a sleeve, front section, rotating shaft cover and base cover.

Project Application
| Project Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Customer | Great Wall Motors |
| Industry | Automotive manufacturing |
| Application | Automotive paint shop |
| Protected Equipment | Industrial spraying robot |
| Main Risks | Paint mist, overspray, static electricity and paint particle buildup |
| Protection Solution | Four-section anti-static robot protective suit |
| Cover Sections | Sleeve, front section, rotating shaft cover and base cover |
The solution was designed to protect the main robot components without restricting the frequent multi-axis movements required during automotive spraying operations.
Four-Section Modular Structure
The robot protective suit is divided into four independently removable sections:
· Robot arm sleeve
· Front protective section
· Rotating shaft cover
· Robot base cover
Each component can be installed, removed and replaced separately. When one section becomes contaminated or damaged, maintenance personnel can replace that section without removing the complete robot protective suit.
This modular design reduces maintenance and replacement time by 60%, helping the protective solution meet the fast-paced production requirements of an automotive paint shop.
The fastening and connection positions can also be customized according to the robot structure and maintenance requirements, providing a secure fit while simplifying installation and section replacement.
Flexible Anti-Static Fabric
The main cover uses TH-T14 polyester-spandex rib fabric combined with black anti-static yarn.
| Item | Project Specification |
| Main Material | TH-T14 polyester-spandex rib fabric |
| Fabric Weight | 210 g/m² |
| Extensibility | 20%–50% |
| Anti-static Material | Black anti-static yarn |
| Cover Structure | Four independently replaceable sections |
| Application | Automotive spraying robot protection |
With an extensibility of 20%–50%, the fabric can follow frequent robot arm and joint movements while reducing excessive pulling around the joints.
The protective suit was customized according to the robot structure, joint movement and operating conditions of the Great Wall Motors paint shop. For other projects, Tehu can adjust the dimensions, cover sections and connection points according to the robot model, movement range, cable routing and spraying environment.
Paint Absorption, Anti-Adhesion and Self-Cleaning Design
The robot protective clothing uses materials with good paint absorption performance, helping control paint mist and reduce the risk of loose paint particles affecting the surrounding painting process.
A microporous film treatment is applied to the fabric surface. This anti-adhesion technology reduces the paint particle adhesion rate by 85%, helping control excessive paint buildup on the protective suit.
The protective system is also combined with a centrifugal fan to achieve 24-hour self-cleaning during continuous spraying operations.
Together, these features help:
· Control paint mist and overspray
· Reduce paint particle accumulation
· Limit loose paint contamination
· Maintain cleaner robot surfaces
· Support stable automotive paint production quality
High-Temperature Protection
The rotating shaft section uses TH-T16 flame-retardant fabric.
This material can withstand instantaneous temperatures of up to 150°C, providing additional protection for the rotating shaft area under the high-temperature conditions found in spraying workshops.
Separating the rotating shaft cover from the other sections also allows this high-exposure area to be inspected and replaced independently.
Project Benefits
The completed robot protective suit provides the Great Wall Motors paint shop with several practical benefits:
· Protects robot arms, joints, shafts and bases from paint mist and overspray
· Uses non-scratch and non-shedding materials
· Provides good paint absorption performance
· Reduces paint particle adhesion by 85%
· Supports 24-hour self-cleaning with a centrifugal fan
· Adapts to frequent multi-joint robot movement
· Provides anti-static protection in the spraying environment
· Withstands instantaneous temperatures of up to 150°C at the rotating shaft section
· Reduces maintenance and replacement time by 60%
· Allows individual cover sections to be replaced separately
· Helps maintain stable paint production quality
The modular design also allows maintenance teams to prepare replacement sleeves, shaft covers or base covers according to the wear and contamination conditions of different robot areas.
Manufacturing and Customization Capability
Tehu supports custom robot protective clothing development from application evaluation and prototype production to bulk manufacturing.
Intelligent Manufacturing Production Lines
Our Guangzhou factory is equipped with German-imported laser cutting machines with a cutting precision of ±0.1 mm, as well as Japan Juki automatic sewing equipment.
These production facilities support a manufacturing capacity of up to 300 robot protective suits per day.
Our Guizhou production base is equipped with a constant-temperature and constant-humidity laboratory. The laboratory can simulate extreme environmental conditions ranging from -40°C to 85°C for product testing and performance evaluation.
Flexible Custom Production
Custom robot protective suits can be developed according to:
· Robot brand and model
· Robot arm and joint dimensions
· Axis movement range
· Cable and hose routing
· Spraying process
· Paint shop operating conditions
· Anti-static requirements
· Flame-retardant requirements
Flexible production is available with a minimum order quantity of 50 pieces. Prototype samples can be delivered in as fast as 72 hours after the robot information and design requirements have been confirmed.
Quality Control
Our quality management system is certified according to ISO 9001:2015.
Quality control covers material inspection, precision cutting, sewing, dimensional verification and finished-product inspection. Through standardized production and inspection procedures, the product defect rate is controlled within 0.3%.
